Nils Emil Lundström, one of Rörstrand's longest-tenured and most adaptable designers, initially joined the company as a pattern designer in 1896. Over four decades, he carved out a name for himself with his distinctive "picture motifs" on tableware and particularly on vases. One of his most significant and lasting accomplishments is the pattern for the Ostindia service, introduced in 1932. Lundström also earned recognition as a ceramicist, a textile designer, and a furniture designer. His work was showcased in several international design exhibitions in the early 20th century.
