Zsolnay is a historic Hungarian ceramics and porcelain manufacturer, founded in 1853 in the city of Pécs by Miklós Zsolnay and later developed by his son Vilmos Zsolnay. The company gained international recognition in the late 19th century for its innovative materials and techniques, particularly the distinctive eosin glaze, which gives the ceramics a metallic, iridescent sheen. Zsolnay played a key role in the Hungarian Art Nouveau movement and produced both architectural ceramics and decorative household items. Today, Zsolnay is considered one of Central Europe’s most important names in ceramic art and design.
