Édouard Massier (1856–1920) was a French ceramicist and a member of the renowned Massier family from Vallauris, a town famous for its art pottery. He was the nephew of Clément Massier, who is considered a pioneer of Art Nouveau ceramics in France.
Édouard worked closely with his family and contributed to the development of experimental techniques, particularly in lusterware (metallic sheen glazes) and colorful, iridescent glazes, which became a hallmark of Massier ceramics. He often created decorative vases, bowls, and sculptural pieces with organic forms inspired by nature—perfectly suited to the Art Nouveau style.
The work of the Massier family, including Édouard’s, was exhibited internationally and helped establish Vallauris as a center for modern French ceramics. Today, his pieces are highly sought after by collectors.
