Torsten Hugo Olson (1904–1995)
Abstract composition.
Oil on panel. 1975.
A lyrical abstract composition constructed from faceted fields of green, red, blue and yellow tones. The painting radiates a rhythmic balance between structure and dissolution — a vibrating chromatic field where the subject is sensed rather than depicted. Characteristic of Olson’s mature 1970s period, influenced by post-war French lyrical abstraction.

Bio:
Torsten Hugo Olson was part of the renowned Halmstad Group together with his brothers Erik and Axel Olson. He evolved from impressionist beginnings into a colour-intense abstract idiom, where the motif dissolves into structured chromatic fields inspired by French post-war abstraction (Manessier, Bazaine etc.). His works are represented in several Swedish museum and private collections.
