Short biography of Meissen:
The Meissen porcelain manufactory was founded in 1710 as Europe’s first hard-paste porcelain factory. It is renowned for its high quality, hand-painted decorations, and classic patterns such as the Onion Pattern, introduced in 1739 and inspired by Chinese blue-and-white porcelain. Meissen still uses the hand-painted crossed swords mark as a guarantee of authenticity.
