Biography:
Karl-Einar Andersson (1925–1975) was a Swedish painter born on December 18, 1925, in Norra Mellby, Skåne. He was the son of master tailor Albin Andersson and Théa Nilsson. Andersson studied at Skånska Målarskolan from 1942 to 1944 and continued his education at Otte Sköld's Painting School from 1944 to 1945. He was then admitted to the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, where he studied from 1945 to 1949, with a break in 1947 to study at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Andersson participated in several exhibitions, including the National Museum’s exhibition "Unga tecknare" from 1946 to 1948, as well as group exhibitions in Hässleholm. His artistic work included landscapes, harbor scenes, and figurative compositions with religious themes. One of his remarkable public works is a glass mosaic in Norra Mellby Chapel, created in collaboration with Ralph Bergholtz. Additionally, in 1960, he created a polychrome relief in concrete, located at Karhögstorg in Lund.
Andersson’s works are represented in several Swedish museums, including Moderna Museet, Malmö Museum, Skissernas Museum in Lund, Norrköping Art Museum, and Helsingborg Museum. He often signed his works with the initials "Carl E. A." Karl-Einar Andersson passed away on July 7, 1975, in his hometown of Norra Mellby.
